Rental terms
A summary of the key terms for hiring with Nelson's Car Hire. The full rental agreement is provided and signed when you collect your car.
These terms summarise the policies most guests ask about. They don't replace the full rental contract you'll sign at pick-up, if anything here is unclear, just message us on WhatsApp and we'll happily explain.
Driver requirements
- The driver must be 24 years or older and hold at least 5 years of driving experience.
- You'll need a valid passport, a valid driving licence, and proof of address both in Seychelles and in your home country.
- Up to two drivers may be nominated per car. The same conditions apply to every nominated driver.
Deposit & payment
- A pre-authorisation of €1,000 on your credit card, or cash, is required upon hire. Credit cards are preferred.
- We accept cash (Euros, GBP, USD or SCR) and Visa card (credit or debit).
- No payment is taken online, your booking is a request that our team confirms by email or WhatsApp.
What every rate includes
- Unlimited mileage across Mahé.
- Free collection and delivery to and from the international airport and the Cat Cocos inter-island jetty.
- Insurance, 15% VAT, and 24/7 breakdown & roadside support.
Fuel
If your car is supplied with a full tank, please return it full (or at whatever level it was given). A car returned below the required level is charged for a full tank plus an administrative fee. To avoid this, you can pre-pay for fuel, which also saves you finding a station on the way back.
Pick-up & return
- Most guests collect and return at the international airport or the Cat Cocos jetty; we can also arrange anywhere on Mahé.
- A representative will be present to handle the formalities, including registration and vehicle verification.
- Returns outside business hours are possible; depending on the hour and location, a fee may apply.
Extras
- Child car seats are available; depending on the length and season of the rental, a charge may apply.
- A chauffeured service is available on request.
Changes, cancellations & refunds
- A minimum rental period of 3 days applies for short-term rentals.
- Any cancellation must be properly communicated to us. Failure to do so, or abandoning the car, may have legal consequences.
- You can change a confirmed booking if the car is available for the new dates.
- No refund is given for a car returned early.

In the event of an accident, please call us for assistance on +248 2727 363, or contact the emergency services on 999. Our roadside support is available 24/7 across Mahé.
